Nepali Bhalu

Nepali bhalu and randi definition

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Nepali Bhalu, also known as Nepali Valu or Nepali Randi are extreme forms of derogatory swearing words commonly used to refer to a promiscuous woman who is considered morally degraded and fallen. These connotations are also used to refer to prostitutes, street sex workers and sometimes pole dancers in night clubs. However, the world Bhalu is commonly used by boys in everyday conversation within their intimate circle to refer to a girl who, in their opinion, is ‘bitchy’ and ‘slutty’. She might be, in some cases, a fashionable, attractive and intelligent girl, but boys might call her a bhalu anyway because their attraction to her is not reciprocated or she might be having an affair somewhere else.

The words bhalu and randi are used by a Nepali woman generally to refer to an ex-girlfriend or wife of her husband, or refer to a woman who might be having an extra-marital affair with her husband. It is also used as a slang to denounce foreign girls that attract Nepali boys, for instance, Nepali women might call, a Russian bhalu, an Indian bhalu or an American bhalu.

In Media and Popular culture

Since the slang words bhalu and randi are considered derogatory and informal, they are not used in formal writing. However, with the rise of social media and access of the internet rapidly expanding, photos and videos containing these tags can be seen everywhere. In the 2000s a popular Nepali porn site www.nepali-bhalu.com was inspired by these terms. The site has been taken down as of 2015.
