Early life and education

Jenny Nicholson was born on 6 September 1991 in San Mateo County, California, USA. She had completed high school in the same town. In one internet reference, it has been mentioned that her parents used to practice witchcraft when she was a child. The veracity of this claim, however, remains unclear. Since an early age, Nicholson had developed an interest in spiders and abandoned theme parks. Still today, her videos and other creative expressions reflect her preoccupation with these topics. When she was a teenager, Nicholson reportedly worked for Disneyland.

Long YouTube Career

Nicholson began uploading videos on YouTube in 2011 when she created a new YouTube channel SherclopPones. The name of her YouTube channel was inspired by Friendship is Witchcraft, the comical redubbing of the Canadian-American animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (2010). YouTube took down her first YouTube channel on the grounds of copyright infringement. Nicholson then began uploading her videos to her private YouTube channel (handle @JennyNicholson) which she had signed up for in April 2009. As of 2022, she has amassed nearly a million followers on YouTube.

In August 2016, Nicholas released a sarcastic video called Suicide Squad Sales Pitch, which was a review of the American superhero film Suicide Squad. The review went viral and she began getting traction on the Internet. As of December 2022, Nicholson’s Suicide Squad movie review has been viewed more than six million times. Her most popular video, however, remains to be The Vampire Diaries Video which was uploaded in January 2021 and has been viewed more than 10 million times.

Nicholson has said that she is a staunch fan of the Star Wars film series and took part in the Star Wars Movie Trivia Schmoedown Championship in 2017. In April 2018, one of her YouTube videos, The Biggest Plot Hole in The Last Jedi, gave her a boost in her online popularity. In the video, she revealed a significant plot hole in the storyline of the Star Wars movie The Last Jedi (2016). Interestingly, she also launched an online petition campaign demanding that the error in The Last Jedi should be fixed. The movie production company, however, was not receptive to her proposal.

Among others, Nicholson has also worked as a host in the online show Millennial Falcon, a program that premiered on ScreenJunkies, a YouTube channel owned and operated by Fandom.

A spider lover

Jenny Nicholson has said in many of her YouTube videos that she is a spider aficionado, i.e. someone who likes spiders. She also maintains a Tumblr blog named Spiderjewel. In one of her YouTube videos, named Spiderquest: Quest for the Man-Sized Spider, she revealed that she had liked spiders since as young as she was three and she thought that they were the most amazing bugs. In the same video, she said that because of her admiration of spiders,  she considered pursuing a career in entomology i.e., the study of insects. She shunned the idea of becoming an entomologist after visiting The California Academy of Sciences and discovering an entire entomology wing with dead spiders.
