Budhanilkantha School (also known as BNKS) is an English residential public school situated in Narayansthan, Kathmandu, Nepal. Budhanilkantha School is named after the Budhanilkantha (Lord Bishnu)  temple that is nearby the school.

Budhanilkantha School was established in 1972 as a joint venture project between Nepal and the United Kingdom. Since then a number of British headmasters and teachers have taught and worked in the school, making it one of the most popular English schools in Nepal. In 1992 the British management was handed over to Nepal and as of 2015, the school runs from grade 5 to 12, which includes the Nepali School Leaving Certificate (SLC) and the Advanced Level (A-level) of the University of Cambridge, UK.

Established in 1972, the first batch of Budhanilkantha students took the School Leaving Certificate Examination (SLC) tests in 1980. English became the school’s official language of instruction in 1983. Whereas, in 1985, Budhanilkantha School started offering instructions on the University of Cambridge’s O and A levels.

Budhanilkatha School is primarily famous for the excellent level of education offered there, but also for its nationwide selection exams for primary level admissions. A number of influential people in Nepal are alumnus of the school. For instance, Nepal’s former king Dipendra Shah, prince Nirajan Shah also attended Budhanilkantha School.
